Our Philosophy

Our mission at The Enchanted Garden is simple. We aim to create a magical experience for our children by providing the highest quality of education and holistic childcare in Christchurch. We do this by creating a welcoming, homelike environment within our centre and keeping teacher to student ratios intentionally higher than industry averages. This means we can create a more engaging and individual experience for our children, and give them the care they deserve.

We believe that parents know their own child the best and are their first teachers. Therefore we support and work in partnership with our whanau to support the ongoing learning of their child.

We value quality interactions down at the child’s level, being aware of their needs. We like to laugh, play and learn alongside the children.

Relationships are an integral part of our culture and we believe that these should be responsive and reciprocal with all involved as it takes a village to raise a child.

The Enchanted garden teaching team encourage children to grow up as unique, capable and confident learners by providing them with a balanced programme that incorporates opportunities for planned and spontaneous play.

We acknowledge the importance of each child and whanau cultural values/beliefs. We strive to uphold these within our programme and incorporate and respect the beliefs and values of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Te Ao Maori.

Te whariki is the New Zealand Early Childhood Curriculum which is incorporated into all areas of the children’s learning pathways. This document also supports teachers to provide a holistic and inclusive curriculum for all tamariki working alongside all involved in the learning journey.

Our goal is in partnership with our whanau and community to build a robust foundation where children are able to learn and develop while making a unique and valuable contribution to society.

This philosophy drives the curriculum that makes sure our children are really ready for primary school. By providing individual attention to each child and measuring their progress, we can provide unique, high-quality learning opportunities that make them better prepared for life.
